Morning, my 4th year old son has been experiencing itching like prickles for 2 weeks. Initially a rash on the elbow, stomach and thigh accompanied by itching. After the rash on the abdomen and thighs disappeared, now appears like a smooth bouncy but not runny almost all over the body. Already 3 days my child was given the drug Cetirizine HCL and salicyl powder. That’s why and how to treat it with what? Thank you

Hello Emma,

Thank you for the question.

Itching accompanied by a bouncy rash on almost the entire body of the child can arise due to prickly heat (miliaria), but can also be due to other reasons, for example chicken pox (varicella), folliculitis, scabies (scabies), atopic dermatitis, allergic or contact dermatitis, impetigo, drug eruption, seborrheic dermatitis, and so on.

This itching should be checked directly to a doctor, pediatrician, or dermatologist before it is more widespread, or also spread to other people around the child. With direct inspection or carrying out several supporting examinations, for example allergy tests or blood tests, often the right treatment can be determined by the doctor.

In the meantime, you should not just give drugs to your child carelessly. In order to improve complaints, it is safer to do the following efforts first:

Sprinkle salicyl powder on the itchy child's skin, but do not get into the mouth, eyes, nose, or genitals Wash your child clean using hypoallergenic and non-irritating bath products Give him clothes that are clean, loose, made from soft, and absorb sweat Do not make it a habit for children to exchange their personal belongings with others. Encourage children to avoid scratching their skin excessively, even though it feels itchy Encourage them to avoid squeezing, exfoliating, or picking out rashes on their skin he does not sweat excessively Keep children from substances that often make their skin allergic or irritated Give children lots of water to drink and a variety of balanced nutritious foods Meanwhile, reduce first to give children to eat seafood, eggs, nuts, milk, and processed products because it often aggravate the taste itching Hope it helps ..
