Itching On The Areola Just Before Menstruation?
hello my doctor is a 19-year-old teenager usually, 7-10 days before menstruation, my breasts are sensitive, often I feel itchy and I sometimes scratch it without realizing that the skin around the areola peels off and the next day the peeling part dries and peels with its own (like a wound). why is it that every time I scratch my unconscious areola often hurt? Is the skin of the areola too thin? How do I deal with the itching that comes when I am menstruating?
Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
The skin in the area of the areola indeed includes thin and sensitive skin. The condition of itching areola can be caused by several possibilities, including:
hormonal changes (pregnancy, menstruation, use of hormonal contraception, etc.)
irritation due to excessive friction
certain types of breast cancer
Here are some things you can try to do to deal with itching in your areola area:
use a bra that fits the size, not too loose, not too tight
use a bra that is soft and absorbs sweat
change bra when it's wet when you sweat
use deodorant-free detergents for washing bras (for example detergents used for washing baby clothes)
avoid scratching when the areola feels itchy
use a moisturizing cream in the areola area (for example creams containing lanolin or cocoa butter)
If indeed itching can not be unbearable, your breasts discharge, there are certain lumps in the breast, or there is a change in the skin of the breast, you should consult your doctor so that further evaluation and management can be done. Doctors can also prescribe creams that contain mild steroids to treat itching in the breast if the itching is not caused by fungus (this cream should not be used alone without going through a doctor's examination first).
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
