it’s only been a year that I’ve felt my jaw shift. so if I eat it is rather difficult, because the jaw is out of balance again. is it dangerous? what causes it? because beforehand my jaw was normal and my teeth were neat. because of the condition of my jaw like now, I feel the shape of the face, especially the jaw mereng. I also could only chew on one side only. explanation please.
Hello, thanks for the question.
Joint displacement or dislocation of the lower jaw / mandible most often results from trauma or injury or occurs spontaneously when opening the mouth too wide, such as yawning, screaming, eating, singing or during surgery and dental care. Jaw shifting can cause food chewing disorders, the face becomes asymmetrical, and interferes with appearance. This dislocation of the jaw is more common in people with muscle weakness and facial nerve paralysis. If there is a dislocation of the jaw you should immediately consult a doctor to reposition or return the jaw to its original position because if left too long can cause spasm or stiffness in the facial muscles. This reposition can be done manually by the doctor by placing his thumb on the gum next to the bottom tooth and pressing down and then gently pushing it to the outer surface of the tooth. If necessary, he then uses backward pressure. When the jaw has returned to its place, the patient is recommended not to open the mouth too wide for at least 6 weeks. If complaints often recur, the doctor may suggest surgery.
Thus, hopefully it helps.
