IUD Thread Does Not Feel After Intercourse?
At night, I want to ask, r nI’ve been using KB Iud for more than 1 week, but after I had sex with my husband suddenly the IUD thread disappeared, whether in / out instead! In fact, what should I do? And will I potentially get pregnant?
Hello, Thank you for the question.
Intrauterine device (IUD) is a contraceptive that can prevent pregnancy, which is T-shaped and is used by insertion into the uterus. IUDs are of two types namely copper IUDs and hormonal IUDs (which contain hormones). Copper IUDs can kill incoming sperm and cause inflammation of the uterine lining so that pregnancy can be prevented; while the hormonal IUD contains the hormone levonorgestrel, which causes thicker vaginal mucus so that sperm is difficult to enter the uterus and thin the uterine lining so that it cannot support pregnancy.
This T-shaped IUD is connected to a thread that aims to monitor the location of the IUD. After being inserted into the uterus, the thread will be cut near the cervix so that the user can still feel the thread to make sure the IUD is still in the right position. If you cannot feel this thread, you should immediately consult a gynecologist because it may be that the position has changed. The doctor will check to see if the IUD is still in place. In the meantime, you are advised to use a condom when having intercourse until you consult an obstetrician.
Hopefully this information is useful.
