Keloids Are Getting Bigger And Bigger?
Hello, I’m 21 years old. About 1.5 years ago I had an accident dragged along the river that resulted in several injuries to my body. And these wounds cause keloids. One of them on my right breast nipple. Initially the wound arises near the nipple but is getting wider and wider until the nipple almost closes the hole. Very painful itching every day. What should I do? Can it get bigger and close the hole in my nipples?
Hello, Safira Diah, thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
Keloids are scars that grow into thickened scar tissue. If it is not controlled, keloids can be enlarged and cause discomfort, lumps, and itching.
It is better if the keloid gets bigger and bigger, you can check with your doctor to get therapy to prevent the enlargement of the keloid to reduce the size of the keloid. Some keloid therapy options for example: surgery, corticosteroid injections, cryotherapy, laser, and with certain drugs. The choice of keloid therapy depends on the patient's condition and the severity of the keloid.
Talk to your doctor to make an assessment of your condition and given treatment that suits your condition. Do not delay to the doctor first if the size of the keloid enlarges quickly, causes itching and pain, discharge from the nipple, or there are other lumps / changes in breast shape.
That's all, hopefully it's useful.
