Kidney Failure Causing Insomnia And Stomach Cramps?
Good morning, my father has been suffering from CRF for 2 years and lately he often has difficulty sleeping at night, stomach cramps and even difficulty defecating. Is that really a side effect of dialysis or is there something else? R nthank you.
Chronic renal failure (CRF), is a condition when kidney function begins to decline gradually.
Kidney failure can produce the following symptoms:
More frequent urination, especially at night The presence of blood or protein in the urine detected during a urine test Itchy skin Muscle cramps and muscle spasms Difficulty sleeping / sleep disorders Weight loss Decreased appetite Tired or feeling weak Blood pressure is difficult to control Occurs buildup fluid that causes swelling of the ankles, feet, or hands Build up of fluid around the heart causing chest pain Shortness of breath Nausea and vomiting From the complaints experienced by your father this is part of the symptoms of kidney failure he is experiencing. The severity of kidney failure determines the type of treatment given. The treatment that will be given is of course focused on slowing down the disease from developing and helping relieve symptomatic complaints.
Maintain blood pressure with lifestyle changes such as reducing salt intake and reducing excess body weight and if necessary by taking antihypertensive drugs. Then try to exercise regularly, stop smoking, consume healthy foods that contain lots of vegetables and fruits, avoid drinking alcohol, and always control and have your father's condition checked regularly to the treating doctor.
