Late Menstruation, Are You Pregnant?
I want to ask, I already have a husband, but last month I had my period on the 16th but this month I haven’t had my period, which means I’m late, is it pregnant?
Hi Novika, thanks for the question. Menstruation is a sign of puberty in women. Menstruation is the process of shedding the uterine wall due to the influence of hormones in the body. During menstruation, the innermost lining of the uterus, the endometrium, is shed. Menstruation has a cycle of 21-35 days but the average woman has a cycle of 28 days, the menstrual cycle is a calculation from the first day of menstruation until the next menstruation appears. Each cycle, menstruation usually lasts for 2-7 days.
Disorders of the menstrual cycle can be caused by mild to severe things. Menstruation is strongly influenced by hormones in our body, while hormone levels are very easily influenced by various disorders in the body and also stress. Therefore, sometimes disturbances or stress or fatigue in the body result in hormonal disturbances that result in disruption of your menstrual cycle. Here are some possible causes:
stress or fatigue
changing eating patterns
drastic weight loss
the effect of hormonal contraception
It's a good idea to calculate your menstrual cycle well. Sometimes the date of menstruation can be delayed or advanced but still in a normal cycle so there is no need to worry too much. However, late menstruation is one of the signs of pregnancy. Pregnancy can occur if you have sexual intercourse without contraception. To confirm a pregnancy, further examination is needed such as a test pack examination or you can check with a gynecologist for further examination. We recommend that you do a test pack check when you are 2 weeks late for your period to get more accurate results.
