Lazy Eyes And A Little Jereng Out?
Good night, r nI’m 15 years old, my left eye has a lazy eye and a little jerking out, but it doesn’t look too much, and my right eye is minus 3 and left cylinder 2 and minus 0.5 and so I have to wear glasses every day and close my right eye and if I leave, will my left eye squint? Please answer both of my questions, thank you.
Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
Disorders of refraction of the eye, including nearsightedness (myopia, minus eye) and astigmatism (cylindrical), especially if the difference is far enough (refractive anisometropia), can indeed cause impaired muscle balance around the eye that appears as a squint (strabismus). When experiencing strabismus, one eye will be used more dominantly, so the other eye will experience amblyopia (lazy eye).
Not only because of your minus and cylindrical eyes, squinting can also occur due to botulism, eye or head injury, stroke, Guillain-Barre syndrome, Grave's disease, or diabetes. Can also, lazy eyes occur due to interference with one eye, for example due to cataracts or other visual impairments.
The use of glasses can be useful in your case, because it can correct eye refraction problems, so that your lazy eyes and strabismus improve. Closing healthy eyes, can also improve the work of your lazy eyes, so that slowly complaints will improve, not vice versa.
We recommend that you consult directly with your doctor or ophthalmologist regarding your condition. That way, the doctor can certainly give you the right treatment, including for example when needed the use of glasses with appropriate vision, certain eye drops, eye patches (eye patch), filter Bangerter, and even surgery.
In the meantime, you should continue to use your glasses properly so that your refractive disorders are well corrected and your amblyopia and stramismus deterioration can be prevented.
Hope this helps ...
