Left Chest Pain, Heart Feels Like It’s Been Squeezed And Stiff For 2 Years?
I am now 21 years old, student work, my weight is 49 kg, height 152 cm. maybe since 2 years ago, I often feel pain in my left chest, I feel like my heart is being squeezed from the inside and feels very stiff, so my reflexes immediately bend over and don’t dare to move. but the pain only occurs in the left side of the chest and does not radiate to the shoulder or neck. the frequency of occurrence is uncertain sometimes once every 2 months, sometimes once a month, but if it occurs once there can be repeated pain every day for up to 4 days in a row, then there are no more attacks in an uncertain period. Most of the pain that occurs is only a few seconds, but at one time it happened for a very long time, maybe around 5 minutes. I want to ask, do the symptoms of pain that I feel lead to heart disease, or maybe there are many other causes that trigger this chest pain condition?
Hello Aunt Wahyu,
Pain in the left chest can indeed be due to heart disease, but there are many other organs that may cause the pain you feel, for example due to muscles, nerves, bones, lungs, stomach, or pancreas. The following characteristics of chest pain are usually NOT related to the heart:
Accompanied by fever Chest pain in the solar plexus, accompanied by bloating or a sour taste in the mouth Pain when pressed Increases weight or is good when changing body position Pain when coughing or taking a deep breath
Pain caused by heart disease usually has the following characteristics:
Dull, very painful like being crushed by a heavy load Accompanied by difficulty in breathing May radiate to the left arm, left shoulder, shoulder blade Pain occurs with activity and improves when resting Accompanied by difficulty breathing, nausea, cold sweats
If you only refer to your story, it is quite difficult to determine the cause. Direct examination and additional examinations such as ECG, echocardiogram and X-rays are necessary to complete so that the cause can be identified. You should consult a doctor so that it can be treated as soon as possible.
