Hello, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
Basically, the human airway always produces mucus that serves to maintain the humidity of the airway, and catches dirt and viruses or bacteria that enter the airway to be removed. Cells in the airway mucosa have fine hairs that are always moving to push the resulting mucus out of the airway.
Mucus buildup in the airways can occur due to several possibilities:
respiratory tract infections (including sinusitis)
allergic to respiratory tract
irritation of the airways (for example due to exposure to cigarette smoke, certain odors, excessive air pollution)
the presence of foreign bodies in the airways
the air is too cold and dry
the presence of certain diseases such as cystic fibrosis, GERD
The following are some things you can do:
Drink more fluids (drink at least 2-3 liters a day, drink more when it is hot, you sweat a lot, or if you have a fever)
Install an air humidifier in your bedroom or office
Clean your house from dust regularly
Avoid smoking, exposure to cigarette smoke, and excessive air pollution
If indeed your symptoms do not disappear, check yourself to the ENT doctor for further evaluation.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
