Loss Due To Cradle Cap?
Hello, I use baby oil to clean the cradle cap on my baby who is 1 month old. The cradle cap was lifted, but my child’s hair was raised too. So my child is bald on the head that I cleaned using only baby oil. I guess I mishandled it in not lifting the cradle cap, until my child’s hair was lifted as well ?? And later my child’s hair will grow again or not ??
Hello Vina Rosaliana, thank you for asking with HealthReplies.com.
Previously, the doctor needed some additional information about your child's complaints, how long had the complaint occurred, did you consult with a pediatrician? Some of the causes of your child's condition include:
Folliculitis (infection of hair follicles)
Tinea capitis (fungal infection of the hair area)
Cradle cap or crust on the head is a disease or skin condition called seborrheic dermatitis. In adults it will usually cause some skin rashes or complaints such as dandruff.
You should first ascertain whether the skin condition in your child is caused by seborrheic dermatitis and not other diseases. Doctors need additional information, a physical examination directly looks at the condition of your child's head. You should be advised to consult directly with a pediatrician to get the best treatment. Generally seborrheic dermatitis or cradle crap will not cause permanent damage or hair loss, it can indeed occur if there is already inflammation or damage to the hair follicles.
Some things you can do include:
Gently rub the crust on your scalp with your fingers or cloth
You can also wash your child's head using baby shampoo with a mild formulation
Maintain cleanliness of your hair and head regularly
Hopefully this information can be useful.
