Lump On The Back Of The Head On The Lower Left After Being Hit?
Hello, 2 days ago I hit my head quite hard. So I checked again that there was a lump on the back of the head, lower left. Is this still harmless? Do you need a CT scan? R nThank you
Hello Hope19, Thank you for the question.
A lump on the head can form after an impact. A lump will form on the impacted area. This is caused by a hematoma / bruise due to the breakdown / rupture of the blood vessels under the scalp so that the blood collects under the scalp and causes these bumps to appear. If the lump is not present at the area of impact, it may be caused by another medical condition. A lump on the back of the head can be caused by:
sebaceous cysts, which are fluid-filled sacs that form from sweat glands
Epidermoid cyst, which is a fluid-filled sac that forms from skin tissue
enlarged lymph nodes
Please go to the doctor directly. The doctor will ask you about this complaint and conduct an examination on you including an examination of this lump to determine the cause. After examining you, your doctor will determine if you need further tests such as a CT scan.
In the meantime, please rest and avoid doing physical activities that are too strenuous if you experience symptoms of headaches or dizziness after this impact. You can apply a cold compress to the bruised lump that occurs after this impact.
Hope this information is helpful.
