Lump On The Back Of The Head
Greetings alaikum doc! My 13-year-old child has a lump in the back of the head often bleeding and so much, I asked him why he said he also did not know, that’s all my question doc, thank you in advance
Thank you for the question.
Lumps behind the head that often bleed should not be left alone. Here are some of the most common conditions that cause a bump like this:
Skin infections, such as acne, folliculitis, warts, abscesses
Benign or malignant tumors, such as hemangiomas, hemangiosarcomas
Other factors, such as lymphadenitis (inflammation of lymph nodes), hyperkeratosis, keloids, skin tags, and so on
Depending on the cause, this lump may or may not be dangerous. Of course, this cannot be determined based only on this brief description. You need to have your child checked by a doctor or pediatrician for a direct physical examination to evaluate the characteristics of the lump. It may be that later the doctor will encourage your child to undergo further tests, such as biopsy, ultrasound, blood tests, and so on. Maybe also, the doctor will coordinate with the pediatric surgeon in giving him the best management.
In the meantime, the following initial steps you can take:
Don't hold the lump with dirty hands, let alone squeeze and poke it
Press the lump using sterile gauze to stop the bleeding
Keep your body clean, especially in the area around the bump
Do not carelessly give treatment to the lump without advice from a doctor
Hope this helps ...
