Lump On The Wrist?
I have a lump in my left wrist that has been around for 7 months, if it is squeezed it hurts, but I have never seen a doctor. my hands still hurt, more painful than before. Is that a ganglion cyst? What happens if the bump on my hand appears flat but inside it turns out to be broken? Can it still be treated?
Good evening, thank you for the question
Ganglion cysts are benign fluid-filled cysts found around the wrist joints. The characteristics of ganglion cysts are soft lumps with diameters varying from 1-3 cm, can be enlarged, and cannot be moved. These cysts can usually cause pain, especially if there are repetitive movements in the affected joint area.
In some cases these cysts can disappear spontaneously and do not require special measures if their size is small. Small surgery can be recommended in the condition of ganglion cysts that are large enough to interfere with appearance.
This cyst can also rupture due to high pressure, where the fluid in the contents of the cyst will be absorbed into the surrounding tissue, and there will be complaints of pain or swelling for several days after the ganglion cyst rupture. This condition is not a dangerous thing. However, there is still a risk of developing a cyst again because the cyst wall is not completely removed. The best course of action is resection, namely the removal of the cyst mass through a small operation because of the smaller recurrence rate.
Make further consultations with your doctor if complaints of severe pain or cysts form again.
That's all, hope you can help.
