Lumps On The Eyelids Nearly 2 Months?
Good afternoon, I want to ask my child who is now 1.5 months old. There is a lump on his eyelid for about 2 months, but the lump has sometimes moved “sometimes in the eye on the left / right, then in the eye bag too … I haven’t brought it to the doctor because it likes to go away on its own, and now there are more lumps .. Why is that?
Hello Erni, thank you for the question for HealthReplies.com
Lumps on the eyelids can have a number of causes, but the following 2 possibilities are the most common:
Hordeolum (stye). Hordeolum can appear due to infection of the hair follicles on the eyelids or the oil glands that attach to the hair on the eyelids. Hordeolum usually gives symptoms of a lump on the eyelid that looks red, itchy, painful, can be accompanied by swelling of the eyelid, and red and watery eyes. This condition can heal on its own and can also recur.
Kalazion. Kalazion can appear because of a blockage in the oil glands in the eyelids. Hordeolum that lasts a long time can also cause kalazion to appear. In kalazion, usually only a lump is found on the inside of the eyelid (can be top or bottom) and there are no signs of inflammation such as redness, swelling, or pain. This condition can also go away on its own, but it can be permanent.
To find out for sure, it's a good idea to take your child to the doctor, especially because the condition keeps recurring. Some things you can do in the meantime:
If the lump is appearing, you can compress the affected part with a warm compress
Do a gentle massage on the lump
Prevent your child from rubbing his eyes
Wash your child's hands often, especially after children play outside
So much information from me, hopefully it will be enough to answer
