Management Of Craniosynostosis?
I have a baby aged 1 month, the shape of my child’s head is not proportional, and after consulting the doctor there is a possibility that my child will have right coronal craniosynostosis, my question is if in Jakarta an experienced hospital for cases like my child where is it? Especially those handled by endoscopy because my child is still under 6 months old, and how much will it cost? NThank you in advance
Good evening, thanks for asking at HealthReplies.com. Craniosynostosis is a form of birth defect where one or more of the joints between the bones of the baby's skull are closed even though the brain is not fully formed. For information, the skull consists of several parts as shown below.
And these parts in babies are still not completely closed. In this disorder, there are parts that have closed first so that when the brain grows, there is an asymmetrical appearance.
For handling, mild cases may not require handling. The treatment option when needed is to use a helmet that is specially made to help reshape the baby's head as it grows. However, for most babies, the main treatment usually involves a surgical procedure. The aim of surgery is of course to normalize the head shape, reduce pressure on the brain, make room for brain growth and improve overall appearance. However, the type of surgery and when to perform surgery will depend on the type of craniosynostosis, its severity and the presence or absence of any accompanying genetic diseases.
In general, surgery using endoscopy is performed on infants aged less than 6 months and open surgery is performed for babies over 6 months of age.
Regarding your question, the hospital that can provide this treatment is one that has neurosurgeons and pediatric surgeons. You can find it by using our "Search Hospitals" feature and typing the keywords "neurosurgery" or "pediatric surgery" in the "I'm looking for information about" column. You can also enter your location to find the hospital closest to your home.
We cannot specifically recommend one particular hospital because for that, we must have a record of how many similar illnesses each hospital treats, even though these records are not for general consumption. So what you can do is look for a hospital with the medical personnel we mentioned above. To confirm, you can then call the hospital to ask in detail if they provide the facilities you mean, as well as how much it costs. We wish your child a speedy recovery.
That's all, hope it helps.
