Management Of Nasal Infections After Rhinoplasty Surgery?
Hi doc, I would like to ask if the nose that has been plastic surgery using an implant and also the ear cartilage is placed at the tip of the nose for the sharp nose but the nose has been infected and must be re-operated for implant removal. The question is should I remove the ear bones or leave it in the nose? Then after the dream is finished, can the infection recur and will disappear forever?
Hello Girl JD,
Rhinoplasty or nose job is surgery to modify the shape of the nose. This procedure is generally performed by plastic surgeons. The purpose of these actions can be for aesthetics, correction of the shape of the nose that has abnormalities, or improve nasal function as part of the respiratory tract.
Rhinoplasty changes the bone, cartilage (cartilage), and nasal skin. Just like other surgeries, rhinoplasty also has the risk of bleeding, infection, and also a reaction to anesthesia. Some complications are the shape of the nose that is not appropriate, sensory disturbance in the nose (numbness / numbness), breathing problems from the nose, scar tissue formation, persistent swelling of the nose, and need surgery.
After rhinoplasty surgery there is a series of treatments that patients must undergo regularly to get good results. Poor wound care, poor patient nutrition factors, factors that slow wound healing (smoking, diabetes mellitus), can increase the risk of infection in wound rhinoplasty. The use of certain types of implants is also associated with a higher risk of infection.
The handling of infected surgical wounds is varied, starting from wound debridement, administering antibiotics, to re-surgery to remove the implant that has been installed. Some tissue will also be considered removed when an infection has occurred, including ear cartilage that has been placed on the nose. Infections due to surgical wounds to the nose need to be treated adequately because there can be spread of infection to the sinus area, orbital cavity (eye), brain, to the systemic (whole body) if the infection is severe.
Therefore, consult with a specialist plastic surgeon before performing nose surgery and do post-operative care regularly and according to the instructions that have been delivered. Thus the explanation from me, hopefully useful.
