Mascara Scratched My Eyes And My Vision Became Blurry?
Hello, while wearing mascara I accidentally scratched my eye. I saw my eye was scratched in the black area and my vision was blurry. What should I do? can the scratches disappear? Thank you.
Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
Scratches to the eye can be mild but also dangerous. Minor scratches generally only cause irritation of the conjunctiva (conjunctivitis) which will make your eyes watery, red, and can also feel sore. However, this condition generally does not interfere with your visual function.
If your complaint appears accompanied by blurred vision, then it is likely that your complaint is due to a corneal abrasion. The cornea is the transparent front part of the eye and covers the iris and pupil. Abrasion on the cornea, in addition to making the eyes watery, red, more sensitive to light, can also cause vision problems. Furthermore, if the mascara that scratches your eyes is not clean, or if you rub your eyes with unclean hands, then you are also at risk of infection, either due to bacteria or fungi. This condition can even lead to permanent blindness.
In addition to corneal abrasion, your complaint may also arise due to other causes, such as traumatic cataracts, iritis, uveitis, trichiasis, corneal ulcers, and so on.
It is through the direct examination of an ophthalmologist that the possibilities of this condition can be distinguished. Therefore, it is best if you consult a doctor immediately.
In the meantime, avoid holding your eyes too often, especially rubbing them. Also, don't wash your eyes with anything unless advised by your doctor. Avoid excessive use of cosmetics around the eyes first. If the eye feels very uncomfortable, you can apply artificial tears.
I hope this helps.
