Material That Can Be Used To Make Hand Sanitizers

Tonight. I want to ask you, I want to make a hand sanitaizer with alcohol. Glycerin and H202, but h202 does not exist, is there any substitute, and can I make it with only 2 ingredients? Thanks in advance

1 Answer:

Good morning, thanks for asking at HealthReplies.com. With the outbreak of the corona virus in Indonesia, the prices of goods that can ward off this virus skyrocketed, such as masks and hand sanititary or hand sanitizers. To get around this, various efforts have been made including including making their own hand sanitizers at home.

In making this hand-washing liquid, WHO or the World Health Organization has issued a guide on how to make it which consists of two formulas, the first formula consists of:

Ethanol 96%
Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) 3%
Glycerol 98%
Sterile water that has been distilled or boiled

While the second formula consists of:

99.8% isopropyl alcohol
Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) 3%
Glycerol 98%
Sterile water that has been distilled or boiled

From the two recommended formulas, it can be seen that there is always a component of H2O2 or hydrogen peroxide. This is because the role of H2O2 is to kill germs that may be present in the solution itself. So indeed the role of H2O2 is not directly to clean our hands, but if there is no content of this and the antiseptic liquid that we wash into our own hands has been contaminated with bacteria or viruses, then it will be just as ineffective.

The point is, this content should not be ignored in making hand sanitizers. The fact that H2O2 is difficult for you to get can actually be proof that the content is important, considering that everyone is trying to make their own hand sanitizer. The material that can be replaced in making hand sanitizers is a mixture of aloe vera, coloring, essential oils and the like.

So we suggest, if you cannot collect the materials needed to make WHO-recommended hand sanitizers, it should not be forced and wash your hands using running water and soap in the order of hand washing you can see below.

Doing this well for just 20 seconds can make more than 99% of the bacteria and viruses in your hands disappear. Conversely, even if you use expensive hand sanitizer products, if you don't wash your hands in the order and are too fast, the bacteria and viruses may not die. So, hopefully answering your question.
