Measles In 5 Weeks Pregnancy?
Ass.Dok I want to ask if a baby is born and grows normally when the mother is 5 weeks pregnant with measles.
Measles is an infectious disease caused by a viral infection and causes several symptoms such as fever, grayish white spots in the mouth and throat, reddish rash, flu symptoms, red eyes, more sensitive eyes to light, and swollen lymph nodes.
Measles is transmitted through droplets / splashes of liquid when coughing, sneezing, or laughing and talking. In general, measles will improve by itself as long as the immune system is good for 1-2 weeks. Medicines given aim to reduce complaints such as antihistamines and fever-lowering.
However, if pregnant women contract measles, it can lead to more severe complications such as increasing the risk of miscarriage, premature labor and low birth weight. Measles is less likely to cause fetal disorders / disabilities than German measles / measles.
If you are currently pregnant and have measles, don't worry and worry first. The best step you can do right now is to check with your obstetrician so that you can be examined and given the right treatment. After the baby is born, your pediatrician can also do a screening to detect if there are certain conditions in your baby related to the history of measles during pregnancy.
Meanwhile, you should get enough rest, consume healthy and nutritious food, drink lots of water, and consume pregnancy supplements and medicines according to the advice of the obstetrician. Do not forget to control pregnancy once a month or according to the schedule given. And during pregnancy, try to avoid the sources of transmission of the disease first.
Hope it helps you,
