Medicine For Tongue Cancer Without Surgery?
Assallamuaikum … I am Sri Devi, I would like to ask … my friend has tongue cancer, is there a cure for the disease? Is there surgery? Stage 4 cancer is the only way
Hello Sri, Thank you for the question.
Tongue cancer is an abnormal growth of cells on the tongue. Cancer can occur on the front of the tongue (classified as oral cancer) or the back of the tongue (classified as oropharyngeal cancer). The main causes of this abnormal growth are alcohol consumption and smoking. In addition, human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and poor oral hygiene can also cause this condition. Symptoms that sufferers can experience are red or white spots or lumps on the tongue, mouth sores that don't heal, sore throat, numbness of the tongue, bleeding on the tongue.
Treatment of tongue cancer depends on the stage of the disease. Stage 4 tongue cancer means that cancer cells have invaded the tissue around the tongue (including the jaw or oral cavity), the lymph nodes, and other organs. In addition, treatment also depends on the location of this cancer. The treatment given by the doctor can be in the form of surgical removal of cancer cells, chemotherapy, and radiation. Please advise your friend to consult with the oncology surgeon in charge of the recommended treatment based on the doctor's examination.
Hope this information helps.
