Menstruation For More Than 7 Days?
Good evening, dear, I want to ask. I am currently 20 years old. Currently I am menstruating, but it’s been more than 7 days over 3 days (not as usual). And not too much blood is expelled. While the color is black, like menstruation you want to finish. This is the first time I’ve experienced this. Is it because of thought or swelling of the thyroid gland? Because I have a lot of thoughts right now, plus I have swelling of the thyroid gland. Can menstruation like that be said normally? Please help for my question, Thank you.
Hello, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com
Menstruation is a normal cycle that occurs in the female reproductive system. The normal menstrual cycle is every 21-35 days. Outside that period, abnormal menstruation can be categorized. If the cycle is less than 21 days it can be called a polimenorea. And if the duration of bleeding lasts more than 7 days is called menoragia. There are several possibilities that can cause similar complaints. To find out the cause of the complaint, it is necessary to do a history and direct examination. Some possibilities include:
As a result of thyroid hormone disorders
Pelvic inflammation, for example due to infection of the reproductive organs, both in the uterus, ovaries, or fallopian tubes.
Uterine fibroids, a benign tumor in the uterus.
Endometriosis, which is a condition when tissue from the lining of the uterine wall or endometrium grows outside the uterus.
Adenomyosis, which is the growth of endometrial tissue into the uterine muscle wall.
Hypothyroidism, a condition in which the thyroid gland is unable to produce enough thyroid hormone.
Cervical polyps or uterine polyps, which are additional tissue growth in the cervical wall or in the uterus.
Disorders of the ovary, which can cause the hormone cycle and the process of ovulation, does not occur as it should.
Blood clotting disorders, such as Von Willebrand disease.
Therefore, it is a good idea to check with your obstetrician to get further examination and treatment related to your condition
So much information from me, hopefully it helps
