Menstruation Is Accompanied By White Mucus That Becomes White Lumps?
Hello, I’m 15 years old, female. Why is it, every time I finish my period, there will always be white mucus, like wetting the bed, but over time it becomes white lumps, until the next menstruation, that’s why
Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
The appearance of white mucus that is quite a lot like wetting and then clotting may be caused by vaginal discharge (leukorrhea). This discharge can appear more before, during, or after menstruation due to the influence of hormonal changes. In addition, vaginal discharge can also come out more (such as bedwetting) when you are stressed, tired, taking hormonal drugs, using family planning, experiencing infections, irritation, to malignancy in the reproductive organs.
If the mucus that comes out is colorless (yellow/green/brown), odorless, doesn't itch or sting, chances are you're experiencing normal conditions. You can take the following steps first to resolve your complaint:
During menstruation, change pads regularly at least every 6 hours
Clean the genitals using running water after every bowel movement
Wear cotton underwear that absorbs sweat
Avoid risky sex
Avoid stress and fatigue
Avoid your intimate organs from entering harmful foreign substances
No need to use pantyliners or vaginal fragrance products
However, if the complaints multiply, or occur continuously without depending on the menstrual cycle, then you should immediately consult a gynecologist for an in-depth examination. Usually, not only a physical examination, the doctor will also recommend that you undergo supporting tests , namely urine tests, examination of cervical mucus samples, to ultrasound, or pap smear. Treatment will be given according to the cause of your complaint.
Hope it helps ya..
