Hello. Good morning, Ms. Dona. Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com
PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) is a disease that occurs due to disruption of female ovarian function which causes an imbalance of female homon. So the symptoms experienced are irregular menstruation, increased male hormones (androgens) that appear with the appearance of male signs such as excessive body hair on the back region. buttocks, face, and chest but head hair tends to fall out or thin out; and oily skin and acne more easily. Another symptom that arises is body weight increases and sugar levels in the body tend to increase.
The treatment given is to control the symptoms experienced by the patient. The most important thing that can be applied in daily life is a healthy lifestyle because obesity is very closely related to PCOS women. Regular diet with balanced nutrition and adequate exercise will be very important and avoid unhealthy lifestyles such as smoking and alcohol. Other therapies that can be used are surgery, especially if there is interference with fertility problems and hormonal therapy by administering the pill norethisterone (one of the trademarks is the one mentioned in the mother's question)
Norethisterone pill is a synthetic hormone progesesterone which is expected to be a stabilizer of female hormones in PCOS patients so that hormonal balance will be achieved and the patient experiences a regular menstrual cycle, where the woman's menstrual cycle is 28-35 days. This range is related to the sometimes varying maturation and release process of the ovaries.
Pregnancy checks can be done in several ways such as a testpack, ultrasound, and physical examination by a doctor. The simplest examination is a testpack that measures pregnancy hormone content (HCG), an increase will occur and in general the levels that can be detected by the testpack are about one week since the last day of menstrual delay. In addition to pregnancy signs can also be considered as
- Spots or blood spots where it is patches of zygote attachment to the uterine wall that occur during the first 2-3 days of pregnancy
- Changes in breast shape due to higher hormone production of estrogen and progesterone
- Mild abdominal cramps that show the development of the uterus during pregnancy
- Other symptoms such as nausea, fatigue, lack of appetite, and frequent urination.
Menstrual delays do not always mean that there are risks of pregnancy such as irregular eating patterns, stress, or certain medical conditions.
