Menstruation With A Long Duration After Appendectomy?
Good afternoon Doctor,
The menstrual cycle is generally around 21-35 days with a length of 3-7 days. Each cycle, menstruation is not always the same in number and accompanying symptoms. They usually don't signal a specific disturbance and are nothing to worry about. Long menstrual periods may be due to inflammation of the uterus, but there are other causes that are not necessarily related to previous operations, for example:
The balance of reproductive hormones is disturbed
Infections of the uterus
The presence of benign tumors, eg uterine polyps, myoma
Blood clotting disorders
Adenomyosis (endometrial lining that grows into the muscle lining of the uterus)
There are many other causes. But given that there are no symptoms that interfere with activities, this time it can be monitored first. If menstruation does not stop in a few more days or it gets more and more, check with your obstetrician immediately. The obstetrician will perform a good examination with questions and answers, physical examination and ultrasound examination to determine the cause and provide appropriate treatment.
