Good evening, I have a question. like this, my father’s nails are so thick and the tips of his nails are brownish yellow. Then, every time my father uses skin detergent water on his hands like changing his skin. my father also went to the doctor and took medication but nothing changed. So what about it, so that my father’s nails are no longer like that, so that they become normal nails? Thanks-
Hello good afternoon Claudya ..
The condition of thickened nails and brownish yellow color can be caused by several possibilities, including:
fungal infection of the nails (paronychia)
psoriasis skin disease, which is a form of auto-immune disease of the skin. Symptoms affect almost the entire surface of the skin in the form of skin with thick, yellowish white scales (or reddish rash).
It is recommended that your father check with the doctor to find out the exact cause of the complaint. The doctor will dig up complaints and previous medical history, perform physical examinations, and support examinations if necessary, such as lab examinations on the skin and blood lab tests. Treatment will be adjusted to the causative factor so that the nails will be attempted to return to normal.
Regarding complaints on the hands, in the form of peeling hand skins after being exposed to detergent water, it can be caused by a condition called irritant contact dermatitis, or eczema due to skin irritation. Detergents have hot and irritating properties, as a result in some people they can cause an inflammatory reaction. The main complaint besides peeling skin is burning / burning which is sometimes accompanied by itching. However, it is better for your father to still see a doctor, because it is difficult to be able to diagnose a skin disease without examining it directly. Meanwhile, avoid skin contact with detergents and other irritating substances, such as perfume, soaps containing perfumes, dyes, alcohol, and so on.
I hope this helps.
