Nasal Congestion And Nasal Pain When In A Fresh Air Environment?
At night, my nose sometimes feels painful when in an environment that has “fresh ” air like a beach or mountains. My breathing (the nose) is also uncomfortable (sometimes it hurts) when I am in an environment that is hot, smoky or very dusty. I have visited an ENT doctor with complaints of nasal congestion for several days but not having the flu) and was diagnosed with allergies, but I did not do an allergy test. I want to ask if I really have an allergy or is it a symptom of sinusitis?
Thank you for the question.
Nose that feels painful, feels uncomfortable when breathing, until it is often blocked can indeed indicate you have allergies, or more accurately called allergic rhinitis. Allergic rhinitis occurs due to contact between the nasal cavity and an allergen which causes the lining of the nasal cavity to become inflamed, and itching, pain, redness, producing excessive mucus, to interfere with breathing, smell, and sometimes even taste. Allergens that trigger allergic rhinitis can be many, for example cold, dry air, dust mites, pollen, and so on.
In addition to allergic rhinitis, your complaints may also arise due to other causes, such as non-allergic rhinitis (such as infections, nerve and blood vessels around the nose, or drug side effects), sinusitis, nasal polyps, entry of foreign objects into nasal cavity, nasopharyngeal cancer, and so on.
This condition, if it has not improved with the handling of a doctor, it is better indeed checked back to the doctor or ENT doctor. Through allergy tests, blood tests, rhinoscopy, nasal cavity endoscopy, x-rays, CT scans, or other supporting tests, doctors usually can give you the appropriate treatment. In the meantime, so that complaints don't recur, you should:
Avoid what often triggers your complaints
Diligent irrigation of the nasal cavity, which is by spraying intravenous fluids into the right and left nasal cavities alternately using a syringe (injection) that has been removed
On a sore nose, apply a warm compress
Avoid stinging odors first
Use a mask
Many also drink warm water and fruits that are rich in vitamin C
Don't smoke, stay away from the smoke
Hope this helps ...
