Hello. Good afternoon. Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com
Related to headache complaints, it should also be noted and conveyed some related information
- how is the pattern of headaches experienced whether only one head or the whole head
- are there other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, flashing lights on vision, weakness on one side of the body, double vision or other accompanying symptoms
- whether complaints are made worse by something
- whether there was a similar history before
- is there another history of pain
- whether there is a history of trauma or head injury.
Based on these headache complaints there are several diseases that may be the cause, i.e.
Abnormalities in the structure of blood vessels
Migraine is a headache associated with blood vessels that contract or dilate with conditions that are often associated such as the hormonal cycle in women, a history of trauma. Symptoms that are felt like throbbing one-sided headache are sometimes accompanied by nausea, vomiting or sensitivity to sound or light.
A tense headache is a type of headache that is often described as having a tight binding strap on the head. Symptoms of tension headaches are generally in the form of pain and pressure on the forehead, both sides of the head, or the back of the head. Other symptoms that can occur are headache when you wake up from lying down; Pain in muscles; Pain is worse on the scalp, temples, back of the neck and shoulders; and the muscles of the scalp, neck and shoulders feel soft
Abnormal structure of blood vessels (venous artery malformations), namely abnormal development of arteries and veins. Some of the symptoms felt are headaches, weakness, loss of consciousness and even seizures. Examination is done based on history and physical then test with angiography to see the condition of blood vessels that are experiencing abnormalities.
Some things you can do to reduce symptoms and make you more comfortable are
- Relax with exercise or yoga or do a massage
- Warm water compresses
- Take pain relievers if you are too painful like paracetamol
It is better if the symptoms get worse or persist for further examination to a neurologist. In order to be done first, check based on history and physical. If there is a condition leading to an abnormality that needs to be enforced with imaging it will be recommended for CT Scan / MRI / Angiography (looking at blood vessels)
But if you experience a very severe headache condition, vomiting spraying, decreased awareness, seizures should immediately go to the nearest emergency room.
Thus the information we can convey. May be useful. Thank you
