Need DPT Vaccine After Diphtheria Vaccine?
now my child is 17 months old … and yesterday was diphtheria vaccine …. while the age of 18 months DPT vaccine schedule … whether next month at the age of 18 months must be DPT vaccine again? Please explain dokTThank you
DPT vaccine is useful for preventing diphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus. DPT vaccine is one of the mandatory vaccines in Indonesia. The DPT vaccine is given at 2 months, 3 months, 4 months, and 18 months and 5 years booster.
Some time ago the government held a diphtheria ORI given to children aged 1-19 years as many as 3 times giving with a distance of 0-1-6 months. Diphtheria vaccine itself is generally given in vaccine preparations together with pertussis and tetanus or with tetanus. Diphtheria ORI is done without looking at the previous immunization status.
Do you mean diphtheria vaccine is diphtheria ORI or not? DPT booster should be done according to schedule according to government guidelines or the Indonesian Pediatrician Association. If during 17 months of diphtheria ORI, at the age of 18 months you can take your child to the pediatrician or to the health center so that you can get immunization boosters according to his age.
The doctor will look back at your child's immunization history record and determine whether a DPT booster is still needed or not and whether it needs to be delayed or not (related to the previous immunization distance). At the age of 18 months in addition to the DPT booster, the child will also get a polio and measles booster (or MR, depending on previous immunization history).
Hope it helps you,
