Never Having Menstruation?
Alodokter good night … I want to ask why I have taken my blood pill, not with my menstruation, even though I have already drunk the one for menstruation, it’s already finished but not yet menstruation. I ask for the explanation … thank you
Hello Nelsha, thank you for the question for HealthReplies.com
There are 2 types of birth control pills, birth control pills that contain only the hormone progesterone and birth control pills which contain a combination of the hormones estrogen and progesterone. Birth control pills that contain the hormone progesterone alone (or what is called a mini pill) often cause side effects in the form of menstrual disorders, but combination birth control pills also do not mean they will not cause problems with menstruation. Some women who use combination birth control pills can still experience disturbances and changes in their menstrual cycle. Menstrual cycles may be longer or shorter, no menstruation at all, bleeding more or less, menstruation being longer or shorter.
In general, the side effects that occur with hormonal contraceptive use will improve or disappear after a few months of use. You can try to use your birth control pills regularly first, and monitor again after 3 months of use, whether your menstrual cycle is still interrupted or not. If it is true that your menstrual cycle is still disturbed, you may consider using another method of contraception that does not contain hormones such as an IUD. Discuss with your obstetrician to find out more complete information about family planning.
