No Menstruation For Up To 6 Months, Is It Normal?
Good evening, I want to ask. I am the type if stress does not experience menstruation. I could go for months to 6 months without menstruating. Is that natural? I am now 20 years old. Is there any solution? Is there any medicine to treat menstruation that is not smooth this? Thanks doctor
Hello good morning Rizki.
The absence of menstruation for more than 3 months in the medical world is referred to as secondary amenorrhoea. The causes include:
hormonal imbalance at a young age, as well as old age before menopause psychological stress physical fatigue drastic weight gain, or drastic weight loss undergoing a strict diet excess weight pregnancy use of hormonal drugs, such as family planning drugs disorders of the reproductive tract, myomas, ovarian cysts (ovaries), uterine cysts, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), etc. hormonal disorders due to thyroid disease, etc.
To ascertain whether the complaint you are experiencing is something that is normal / physiological (due to reproductive hormone imbalance) or pathological (due to a certain disease), it is highly recommended that you immediately consult an obstetrician (SpOG). The doctor will explore complaints, appropriate physical examinations, and support examinations to assist in the diagnosis. This supporting examination can be in the form of ultrasound or blood tests.
If the cause is a condition of hormonal imbalance due to age, stress, fatigue, and so on, the doctor will usually give hormonal drugs to "provoke" menstruation. However, if the cause is a certain disease, treatment will be adjusted according to the cause.
Here are some suggestions that we can give you, while waiting for your schedule to see a doctor:
manage stress and do relaxation limit strenuous physical activity consume enough food, not excessive and do not lack adequate rest by sleeping at least 7-8 hours a day consume nutritious food do regular exercise avoid smoking and alcohol
I hope this helps.
Greetings, dr. Denisa
