I am 17 years old and currently pregnant with my first child. when I made a check up for the 9th month and the baby’s weight in the womb was only 100 grams. does this cause nothing?

1 Answer:

Hello Aleeya,

Is it true that your gestational age is 9 months with an estimated fetal weight of 100 grams? In a normal pregnancy at the age of 9 months or around 37 weeks, the estimated fetal weight has reached 2.8 kg or 2800 grams.

Thus, if it is true that what you mean is 100 grams, then your fetus's weight is very far below normal. Babies born weighing less than 2500 grams are low birth weight babies who need special treatment by a pediatrician.

Is there a possibility that you made a typo or misread the writing of the examining doctor? I suggest that you ask again about the estimated weight of your fetus from the obstetrician who examined it so that it is clearer.

Meanwhile, poor fetal weight can be affected by blood supply and nutrition disorders from the placenta, genetic disorders, chromosomal abnormalities, and infections in the fetus, as well as maternal influences (smoking, drinking alcohol, exposure to cigarette smoke, malnutrition, stress, excessive anxiety, diet unbalanced, anaemia).

To help increase fetal weight, you can do the following tips:

Drink pregnant milk 2-3x/day
Consumption of healthy and nutritious foods and high in calories
Get enough rest
Avoid stress
Avoid cigarette smoke and alcohol
Take pregnancy supplements from an obstetrician
Routine control of pregnancy once a month
