Nosebleeds Accompanied By Sore Throat And Cough?
Hello I am 21 years old, last night I had a nosebleed when I was sleeping, last nosebleed was elementary, I thought the nosebleeds would be finished just after that night, it turns out that in the morning the blood was still bleeding from the nose, but not as much as last night, my throat also hurt along with cough, and spit phlegm blood mixed with phlegm, why is that?
Hello Devi, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
Nosebleeds or bleeding from the nose can occur due to many possibilities, including:
ambient temperature that is too cold or air that is too dry (low humidity)
habit of picking the nose
blushing your nose too hard
rhinitis (inflammation of the nose) and sinusitis (inflammation of the sinuses) for example due to infection or allergies
nose injury or impact
the use of nasal sprays too often
drug use through the nose
tumors in the nasal or nasopharyngeal regions
blood vessel disorders in the nose and blood clotting disorders
and many other possibilities
Basically if the nosebleeds only occur occasionally and the bleeding can stop on its own (don't keep pouring for more than 20 minutes), there's nothing to worry about. A cough mixed with blood that you experience may also be caused by blood from the nose being swallowed. The following are some things you can do when you are holding out:
Do not tilt your head or lie on your back
Sit up straight or position yourself slightly bent so that blood from the nose comes out and does not enter the respiratory tract
Press the base of the nose with your index finger and thumb for 5-10 minutes
Compress the base of the nose with ice cubes for 5-10 minutes
Avoid the habit of picking your nose and don't blow your nose too hard
If you often experience nosebleeds (nosebleeds occur repeatedly), bleeding occurs up to more than 20 minutes even though you have done the above actions, you should check yourself to the ENT doctor so that you can do further evaluation and management.
So much information from me, hopefully enough answer
