, my 3-year-old child has the Singapore flu, by the pediatrician given histrine reliever syrup but was not given an ointment for his watery nodules, but the next day his pimple was getting worse and heavier, is there an ointment recommended for Singapore flu sufferers? Or just let it recover by itself? Thank you for the answer.

1 Answer:

Hello Danty,

Singapore flu / hand, foot, mouth disease (HFMD) is caused due to a viral infection (enterovirus). The symptoms are fever, watery nodules appear on the feet and hands and mouth ulcers, sore throat, decreased appetite, and abdominal pain.

To make sure the Singaporean flu doctors can do anamnesis, physical examination to assess the lesion, and if necessary do a blood test. The handling of Singapore flu is more for treatment to relieve symptoms, such as fever-lowering and antihistamines to reduce itching. Singapore flu can generally improve on its own within 7-10 days even without special treatment. Associated with topical medication / ointment, actually not always given. If it still feels itchy, you can give calamin lotion to help reduce the itching.

However, if nodules break or appear suppurating or if canker sores are so large that it is difficult to eat, you should bring your child to control again with the treating doctor so that it can be re-evaluated and so that your child can be given additional treatment if necessary yes.

Meanwhile to help the healing process, you and your child can do the following tips:

Let the child rest enough
Try the child at home first and avoid crowded places until conditions improve to prevent transmission to others
Give children food that is healthy and nutritious and easier to chew (if there is thrush)
Drink plenty of water
Try not to scratch the child's feet and hands
Do not share cutlery until the child is healed
Make sure the child keeps his feet, hands and mouth clean

Hope it helps you,

Thank you
