One Normal Delivery Wound Stitches Loose?
Afternoon.. I just gave birth for 1 week.. why did my stitches come off in 1 day.. Is it dangerous…
Hello Alif, thanks for the question for HealthReplies.com
Suture wounds from childbirth will usually heal and close by itself in 2-3 weeks if there are no certain complications in the wound (such as infection). In the case of loose stitches like yours, you should pay close attention to your stitches. Are the stitches still painful or getting worse, and are there signs of infection such as redness, swelling of the tissue around the wound, or pus in the wound? If there are these signs, you should return to your midwife or obstetrician for further examination and management.
After 1 week, normally there will be healing tissue formed in your stitches (although it may not be completely closed). In this case, it is likely that no specific action will be taken on the wound (it will not be re-stitched). Wounds can naturally heal and close on their own, but if the wound appears to be open due to loose stitches, the healing process may take longer. You need to check with your midwife or obstetrician to make sure that your wound is not infected.
In the meantime, you can try doing the following:
Keep your suture scar area clean
Clean from front to back after defecating (not from back to front)
Dry the pubic area, especially the sutured area, after defecating and urinating
Do a sitz bath, which is soaking the pubic area with warm water for 10-15 minutes 2 to 3 times a day to improve blood circulation to the suture area to accelerate healing and relieve pain. Only use warm water, no need to mix it with certain ingredients or soap because it can be dangerous.
That's all the information I can give, hopefully it's enough to answer
