Overcome Seafood Allergies?
Hello doctor, I’m a 24-year-old woman. R nI want to ask, last year I ate crab fried rice at night and was allergic the next day. I have eaten some crab tails, I boiled and then I ate but no allergies arose. because it could be right because the oil is mixed to fry other seafood … r nor I have to check with the allergic clinic huh? r nthank you 😊
Hello Suvri, thank you for the question to HealthReplies.com
Allergy is an excessive response to the body's immune system to a substance that enters the human body. This immune system will usually begin to be sensitized after a second exposure and so on from the substance that causes the allergy (or called an allergen). In your case, if indeed you only eat crabs twice, the first time you eat crabs do not occur apapu, while the second meal you have an allergy, it is still very possible you are indeed allergic to crabs. Food allergy sufferers do not usually experience anything when first exposure to an allergen, but the immune system will begin to recognize the allergen substance, so that you are exposed for the third time (the second time you eat crab), your immune system immediately recognizes the allergen and from there appears allergy symptoms.
If you have often eaten crab before and have never been allergic, but when you eat the crab fried rice you have an allergy, it may actually be that you are not allergic to crabs, but the crab cooked for the fried rice (or the fried rice itself, or a container cooking) are exposed to other ingredients which are your allergens. To be able to find out for sure, you can do a doctor's examination in internal medicine (can be to the immunology allergy) to do an allergy examination on you.
For the time being, if your allergic reaction is severe enough, avoid consuming foods that have the potential to cause allergies until it is really confirmed that you are not allergic to these foods.
