Overcoming Irritation Around The Colostomy Hole?
, I want to ask about the irritation that is around my father’s cholostomy? how to overcome it? thank you
Hello Jennynta, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com.
Irritation around the cholostomy hole may indeed occur after the operation and this can generally occur due to poor postoperative care such as cleaning up the stool that has been delayed / waited long enough, changing the bag quite rarely (less than 1x per day), or the type of food consumed.
However, the condition of the irritation needs to be examined further by the doctor who is doing surgery on your father to do an assessment of the irritation that occurs as well as the actions / therapies that should be done to mengtasi irritation.
In the meantime, keep consuming the medicines given by your father's doctor as recommended and further improve the care of the cholostomy wound hygienic such as replacing the bag with a good enough material at least once a day and do not wait for the bag to be full to be replaced. Clean the area where the discharge is also using a gauze cloth that has been given NaCl liquid every time the bag is replaced. Do not apply any medicine to the area that is irritated without a clear recommendation from a doctor because it can worsen the complaint.
I hope this helps.
