Overcoming Itching Sensation In Keloids?
Hello doctor. 5 months ago my upper left side was scalded by hot oil. About two months the wound was dry / healed but there were many keloids left. and the keloids are different from those in the neck and others (chest, arms, shoulders). the neck is reddish white and the others are reddish black. and feels more itchy and uncomfortable. my question is, is this keloid dangerous if left alone? And can I start using the well-known wound dressing remover saleb? or waiting for the itching to go away. I have to go to the doctor because this really bothers me. almost every night I wake up to scratch “the scar. Thank you. Hello
Hello Nico.khn, Thank you for the question.
Keloid is an overgrowth of scar tissue / scar tissue on the skin, one of which causes burns. This scar tissue is characterized by a thickening of the skin that is a different color from the normal skin color. Usually keloids found in areas of the body exposed to the sun are darker in color. Apart from burns, keloids can also form on acne scars, chicken pox scars, surgical incision scars, piercings, and immunization injection areas. Keloids can continue to grow in a matter of weeks or months. Keloids that are still growing will feel itchy and this is a normal thing to happen. In general, this itching symptom will disappear when the keloid is fully grown.
There are various treatments for keloids, namely the use of silicone gels, steroid injections in keloids, lasers, cryotherapy, and surgery. You should first consult with a dermatologist so that the doctor can examine the keloid you are experiencing so that the doctor can recommend the right treatment. It is also not recommended that you scratch the itchy area as these scratching marks can exacerbate keloids. You can try using salicylic powder or natural lotion to treat itching.
Hope this information helps you.
