Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
After many years, the appendectomy stitch marks should have healed completely and left no complaints. However, due to several conditions, this healing can be hampered and last longer, for example due to infection, malnutrition, excessive mobility, immune system disorders, connective tissue disorders, or other diseases.
After the operation, the stitch marks have healed before, only then have they been injured again? Or has the stitch marks been dry or completely healed since the beginning after the operation?
If your stitch marks have healed before, then the possibility of bleeding and reopening of your current surgical scar is due to other causes, such as mechanical trauma due to excessive rubbing or sharp objects scratching. It could also be that you experience irritation or infection in the skin around the stitch marks, causing the stitch marks to become inflamed.
It is difficult to determine exactly which one caused your complaint without conducting an in-person examination. Therefore, we strongly urge you to see a doctor right away. Usually, with a direct inspection, the doctor can identify the cause of your complaint and the best treatment. If necessary, you may be referred to a surgeon or dermatologist for further treatment.
In the meantime, you can first clean the blood on the stitch marks of your operation using a clean gauze cloth moistened with intravenous fluids (NaCl). Do this step repeatedly while pressing (don't rub it too much) so that the blood and dead skin cells are clean perfectly. Avoid giving any treatment to the stitch marks without direct advice from a doctor. Always wear clean, loose, and soft clothing so as not to cause excessive irritation around the stitch marks. If the pain is quite disturbing, you can first take paracetamol to relieve it.
Hope it helps ..
