Pain and swelling in the ear most often occurs due to otitis externa, which is inflammation of the external ear. Not only pain and swelling, the ear that has otitis externa often also secretes excessive secretion, buzzing, and impaired hearing. This condition can occur related to infections in the ear, accumulation of earwax, irritation (such as due to excessive ear-digging), entry of foreign matter (such as water or insects), and so on.
It could also, pain and swelling in the ear that you experience indicates otitis media, ear skin infection, contact dermatitis, jaw joint disorders, sinusitis, insect bites, and so on.
Your condition, if it does not improve with the treatment of a doctor, should be checked back to the doctor or the nearest ENT specialist doctor so that appropriate treatment is given. The following initial steps you can do:
Take paracetamol for pain and swelling. Don't put anything in the ear. Don't listen to excessive noise. Don't dig into your ears with anything. Keep your ears dry, and don't put in any foreign objects. Hope it helps.
