Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
Pain and tension around the shoulders and neck may indicate muscle cramps. This condition can occur due to body position that is not ergonomic (including sleep errors), repetitive activities involving shoulder and neck muscles, lack of neurotropic vitamins and minerals, injuries, and so on. It could also, pain and tension that you feel arises because of other triggers, such as torticollis, hypertension, high cholesterol, neck nerve nerves, rheumatoid arthritis, meningitis, viral or other bacterial infections, and so on.
Drowsiness that you experience often occurs due to lack of quality or quantity of sleep. One sleep that can trigger complaints on your shoulders and neck might also cause you to be sleepy. Not only that, irregular sleep patterns, metabolic disorders, diabetes, hypothyroidism, anemia, hypoglycemia, or stress can also cause easy drowsiness.
If your complaint feels very limiting your activities, you should check it directly to the doctor or neurologist. That way, your condition can be handled properly according to the cause. In serious suspected cases, your doctor may direct you to undergo further tests, such as laboratories, X-rays, CT scans, MRI, and so on. For now, compress your shoulders and neck that feels uncomfortable using warm water. Avoid carelessly taking medicine, do not also massage the tense area or pain carelessly. Rest more, first reduce excessive physical activity. When sleeping, wear a comfortable sleeping pad, and avoid using pillows that are too high. Don't forget, exercise regularly (especially stretching sports like swimming or yoga), and don't stress too much.
Hope this helps ...
