1 Answer:
Hello,
The area under the blade or the xyphoid process is called the epigastric region. Pain in the epigastric area is often called heartburn can be caused by various things such as:
Disorders of the stomach: acid reflux disease (GERD), inflammation of the stomach (gastritis), stomach ulcers
Liver and gallbladder disorders: Gallstones (cholelithiasis), inflammation of the gallbladder (cholecystitis), inflammation of the liver (hepatitis)
Irritable bowel syndrome
Pancreatitis
stomach cancer
And so forth
To find out a definite diagnosis, the doctor must conduct an integrated medical interview (since when the symptoms occurred, triggers for pain, other accompanying symptoms), direct physical examination and appropriate supporting examinations (such as blood tests, ultrasound, endoscopy, or CT scan). Usually the doctor will give symptomatic therapy such as antacids, H2 receptor blockers (eg ranitidine), and/or proton pump inhibitors (eg omeprazole) to reduce symptoms. However, it is important to know the exact cause of the pain in order to get maximum therapy.
We recommend that you check and consult a doctor or an internal medicine specialist if complaints occur more often, shortness of breath occurs, severe pain, and this interferes with your daily activities. Some of the things that can be done include:
Drink warm water slowly
Avoid consuming spicy, sour and fatty foods
Avoid drinking coffee, alcohol and not smoking
Take care of your diet
I hope this helps,
dr. Theresa
