Pain In Thumb Nails?
, I want to ask what if the thumb of my right hand feels a little sore and the color is also different from the others, but not too white or yellow or brown.. I searched on google about nail disorders that indicate a disease, why is it scary? If I want to check, what doctor should I check with? I hesitate to check because I’m afraid this is just a trivial matter related to 1 nail only.. But on the other hand I’m also worried and uncomfortable
Thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
Need to be clarified, apart from pain and soreness, what other changes have you experienced in the thumb of your right hand? What's the exact color like? How long has this complaint been around?
Pain and soreness in the thumb of the hand can indeed come from minor problems, but can also be dangerous, for example:
Skin infections, such as due to folliculitis, impetigo, Herpes zoster
Clavus (fish eye)
Buerger's disease (blockage of blood vessels in the feet and hands in smokers)
Peripheral neuropathy (damage to the peripheral nerves, usually occurs in people with diabetes)
Arthritis (arthritis), eg due to gout (uric acid), rheumatoid arthritis (rheumatism)
SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus)
Vasculitis (inflammation of blood vessels)
Nail fungus infection, and so on
To overcome your worries, the wise step that you should do right now is to see a doctor directly. If deemed necessary, the doctor may refer you to the right specialist for further tests, such as laboratory tests, x-rays, and so on.
In the meantime, try to relieve the pain in your thumb by compressing it using warm water. Also take pain relievers such as paracetamol if the pain does not subside with a warm compress. Limit excessive pressure around painful hands or fingers, including those from wearing jewelry or watches that are too tight. Wash your hands regularly and don't massage your sore thumb too much.
Hope it helps ya..
