Pen Installation In Patients With Fractures?
I want to ask if the pen / plate that has been installed on my thigh can bend? While I sometimes play ball, what about it?
Hello, Afila Adhia, thanks for asking HealthReplies.com.
The plate/pen used in fracture surgery serves to assist the process of bone union, so that the bones can be fused straight and in accordance with the anatomy of the bone it should be. The plate/pen is made of metal which is very strong and hard so the possibility of it being bent is very rare. However, you should pay attention to the doctor's recommendations regarding postoperative healing. Healing after plate and screw installation takes 2-4 months, and even then it depends on each patient and depending on which bone is broken. If complications such as infection occur, then healing can take longer. Within a few weeks after surgery you are advised not to move much of the operated part. After that, the doctor will recommend walking little by little (gradually) and finally being able to carry out activities as usual. Consult your chiropractor whether you are allowed to carry out activities as usual or not, especially if you often do strenuous activities such as playing soccer. In addition, check with your chiropractor to evaluate the progress of bone fusion, the development of your limbs in carrying out their functions, and determine the right time for plate/pen removal surgery.
Here is an article about broken legs, which can be read for additional information. That's it, I hope it's useful.
