Possibility Of Transmitting It To Others When TB Treatment Is Continued?
Hello. I want to ask, when the TB patient has been treated at an advanced stage, is he still at risk of transmitting it to others? Does he always have to wear a mask to complete treatment when talking to others? R nThank you
Hello Wisnur, Thank you for the question.
Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis that can occur inside the lungs (pulmonary tuberculosis) or outside the lungs (extrapulmonary TB). Patients with pulmonary TB will be treated with a combination of antibiotics for 6-9 months depending on the condition of the patient. Treatment consists of two phases, namely intensive phase and advanced phase. The antibiotics used are rifampicin, isoniazid, ethambutol. pyrazinamide, and streptomycin. Complaints of patients will usually improve and no longer transmitted after 2 weeks of taking antibiotics. Thus, if the patient has entered an advanced stage, the patient is no longer in an infectious condition. Please advise sufferers to continue taking drugs until they are completely in accordance with doctor's recommendations. Also advise patients to check themselves according to the doctor's recommended examination schedule.
I hope this helps.
