Possible Blood Type Of Children In Parents Who Have Blood Types O And AB?
I want to ask, is it possible for parents who have blood type O and Ab can have children with blood type O? Thx
Hello Nurul Aqlaa,
Blood type in each individual can be different. ABO blood type that we know, is divided into 4 types of blood types, namely type A, type B, type O, and type AB. A child's blood type is determined by the blood type of his father and biological mother. Checking blood groups can be done by checking the blood with the principle of examination of agglutination tests (blood clots). Blood type O has no antigens A and B, but has antibodies A and B. Blood type AB has antigens A and antigens B but does not have antibodies A and B. On examination of blood groups, blood group O will not clot on the drop of antiserum A and B. Blood type AB will clot on the drops of antiserum A and B.
Parents with blood types O and AB, will have the possibility of child:
Blood type A 50%
Blood type B 50%
So it is impossible for children to have blood type O biological from mother and father O and AB. Before certainty, it is better to do a repeat blood type examination on the mother and child of the father in a different laboratory to avoid misreading the results, the quality of the antiserum is not good, the blood drawn has settled, etc. Thus my explanation may be useful.
