Postoperative Care Of The Retinal Eye?
I am one of the patients in retinal eye surgery. What should I do to make my eyes recover quickly?
Hello Nova! Thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com.
After retinal surgery, you will be examined first to make sure you are safe to be discharged. After arriving home, you can eat and drink as usual. You should rest enough and stay at home for at least 24 hours. Follow the instructions from the doctor who operated on you. Until a few days after surgery, you are not allowed to drive vehicles (including bicycles), operate machinery, cook, use sharp tools or hot objects, consume alcohol, smoke, take sleeping pills, or sign important contracts. If you have an eye patch attached before leaving the hospital, continue to use this cover for up to 24 hours or according to the doctor's instructions. You may be given eye drops by a doctor. Use these drops according to doctor's instructions. Wash your hands with soap before using the drops. For 2 weeks after surgery, you should use eye protection during sleep at night or while bathing. You can shower as usual, but make sure the shampoo or other hair products do not enter the eyes. Be careful when walking so you don't stumble or fall. You may not use eye makeup for up to 2 weeks after surgery. Depending on the procedure performed on you, doctors usually advise not to fly for at least 6-8 weeks. Avoid swimming for up to 6 weeks after surgery. If you experience severe pain in the eye that does not improve after 2 hours, eyes get redder, or vision becomes blurry, see your eye doctor immediately.
That's all information from me. I hope this helps.
