Postoperative Cold Coughs.?
Good afternoon, I did an OD operation besides swelling resulting in swallowing pain accompanied by a cold cough. Is that really the effect that arises? Or cough and runny nose appear due to other causes?
Good afternoon, thank you for asking at HealthReplies.com. Directly, cough and runny nose do not cause coughing. Coughs and colds can occur because of a low immune system, respiratory infections, strep throat, allergies, irritation from cigarette smoke, and so forth.
Even if it is associated with surgery, the connection is indirect, for example because postoperative care is unclean, or it is difficult to maintain postoperative hygiene, lazy to brush teeth because of pain, bacteria can collect and infect the respiratory tract. Or because of being lazy to eat, endurance becomes down and more susceptible to disease, and so forth.
Importantly, coughs and colds are symptoms that are quite often encountered and usually can disappear by themselves. If it does not go away, there may be certain abnormalities and if that is the case we suggest you should check with your general practitioner first to do a deep history and physical examination.
Meanwhile, just keep your body clean, avoid cigarette smoke, consume warm drinks such as tea mixed with honey or lemon, consume warm foods like soup and get enough rest. So, hopefully answering your question.
