Postpartum Fever And Abdominal Pain?
I had a comprehensive postpartum visit patient 6 weeks complaining of fever 1 day ago and abdominal pain. Do you think that my patient has inflammation or not? I have had a normal physical examination. Please reply
thank you for asking HealthReplies.com.
Postpartum, fever and abdominal pain can occur due to causes related to the birth process itself, but can also occur due to other causes. Here are some of the possibilities:
Infection of the birth scar in the perineum (in women who gave birth normally) or in the stomach (in women who gave birth to cesarean delivery)
Infections of the reproductive organs, eg vulvovaginitis, pelvic inflammation
Infections in other organ systems, such as gastrointestinal infections, urinary tract infections, ARI (acute respiratory infections)
Other causes besides infection, such as urinary tract stones, obstructive ileus, mastitis (inflammation of the breast parenchyma), dyspepsia (increased stomach acid), side effects of drugs, psychosomatic disorders, and so on
Inflammation is defined as inflammation. With fever, usually the body is experiencing inflammation. However, it is precisely what causes the inflammation that needs to be further evaluated to determine the best treatment.
You can do the following tips so that sufferer complaints subside:
Give sufferers paracetamol medication according to doctor's advice
Suggest that the patient compress the painful area of the stomach with a warm compress
Also advise the patient to get plenty of rest, drink 2 to 3 liters of water per day, eat more regularly, continue to breastfeed the baby (unless the doctor recommends otherwise)
If the fever does not improve within 3 days, or an abdominal pain of very intense intensity appears, accompanied by vomiting, diarrhea, unable to pass wind, or other severe complaints, advise the patient to consult a doctor immediately for further treatment.
Avoid giving other drugs carelessly without a prescription from a doctor
Hope this helps ..
