Preparation Of A Long Journey While Pregnant?
Hi, I am currently pregnant the 10th week, next month I think I’m 15th pregnant I plan to go to Thailand because of assignments from the company.
Hello Eti, Thank you for the question.
Pregnancy is not an absolute barrier to travel. In general, pregnancy from week 14 to week 28 is a safe time for pregnant women to travel. Traveling during early pregnancy has a higher risk of miscarriage, not to mention the symptoms of nausea and vomiting that can be experienced by pregnant women. If you are going to travel while pregnant, make sure you check your pregnancy condition first to your obstetrician before traveling. From the doctor's examination, if no problems or complications are found in your pregnancy, then you can travel of course with the right preparation.
Please note the following recommendations during the flight:
make sure the airline policy you choose regarding the gestational age that is allowed to fly
try to ask for a sitting position near the aisle to make it easier for you to go to the toilet and ask for flight attendants to help if needed
make sure you sit comfortably and use a seat belt on the lower abdomen
make it a habit to move your ankles during the flight or stand and walk in the aisles of the airline during the flight. This is done to improve blood circulation and stretch muscles during the flight so that you do not get tired
multiply water consumption
While traveling, you are also encouraged to continue to consume nutritious food, consume enough water, rest sufficiently, manage stress well, avoid smoking and consume alcoholic beverages. Don't forget to look for information on obstetricians in the country you are visiting, just in case you need it. With proper preparation, traveling during pregnancy can be a pleasant experience.
Hope this information helps.
